Merweb is one of the many ancient fortresses and archeological sites that dot the landscape of Qatar. The Merweb fortress is located 15 kms to the north of the industrial city of Dukhan between Al Numan and Um Alma'a on the west coast of Qatar. It dates back to the Abbasaid era of the 9th century AD.The fortress id rectangular in shape with four corner towers and five half circle towers.
