LOCATION: Less than one hour from Málaga airport, La Posada del Torcal is in the very heart of Andalucia, the perfect base from which to discover the hidden treasures of this fascinating region. The town of Antequera, 15 kilometres away, with its timeless monuments, ornate churches, museum with English-speaking guide and Roman burial grounds ("dolmenes"), the lakes and gorges of El Chorro, the magnificent flamingo breading ground of Fuente da la Piedra, Cordoba and Granada... all are under one hour's journey from La Posada del Torcal. ACCOMMODATION: La Posada del Torcal has eight double rooms, one single and one suite. All rooms have en-suite bathroom. Each room is unique in its design but each pay tribute to some of Spain's great artists. Magnificent brass, gothic and four-poster beds, exquisite antique furniture and handmade ceramics by Andalucian master craftsmen give each room a special personality. To ensure your comfort, each room has its own fireplace, under floor heating, ceiling fan, satellite TV and radio, telephone, coffee and tea making facilities and hairdryers. All bathrooms have both a bath and a separate walk-in shower. A range of our own toiletries and dressing gowns are also provided. All superior rooms have king size double beds (2m x 2.6m) which can be divided into twin beds on request. Last but not least all rooms have breathtaking views of the Andalucian countryside.

For guests looking for something extra special we offer the Zurbaran Suite. A spacious 2 roomed suite, with its own private entrance from the inner courtyard of the hotel. The Zurbaran suite has one bathroom, one shower room, a pretty sitting room – with its own fireplace – and a comfortable bedroom with king-size bed and dressing area. The suite is equipped with Sat TV, video, compact disc, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. The suite also benefits from a private terrace and garden.

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES: La Casita, formerly a goat herders cottage, now provides guests with a number of facilities both in summer and winter. A fully stocked bar, comfortable seating around an open fireplace, an extensive video and music library and a good selection of books that make La Casita a perfect place to spend a quiet afternoon in the winter months. In the summer, the terraces surrounding La Casita are used for informal tapas style lunches.

Arrive in style. Our uniformed chauffeur and white stretch limousine can meet you at Málaga airport. Fully equipped with bar, television, air conditioning and telephone and a complimentary bottle of champagne. A memorable start to your holiday. HEALTH & RECREATION: La Casita guests will find a Finnish sauna, a small fitness room and separate shower and changing rooms. There is a heated outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi.

Guests may use the hotel's artificial grass tennis court at no extra charge. Racquets and balls can be hired. Coaching on request.

The hotel has four well trained, friendly horses who can be hired to go trekking with a guide through the El Torcal Park and surrounding areas. Inexperienced riders can be led by the guide. A full range of aromatherapy massage treatments, manicure, pedicure and reflexology.

Maps and guided tours are offered to guests who enjoy walking. The surrounding countryside and the El Torcal Park provide guests with a unique opportunity to see rare fauna and flora and birds such as eagles in their natural habitat.

Hot Air Ballooning By arrangement and subject to weather conditions. From Antequera. Golf Antequera Golf Club, located 16 kilometres from the hotel, opening in April 2003. There are two other excellent golf courses in Málaga, approximately 40 minutes drive from the hotel. We will make any arrangements, including equipment hire on behalf of guests.

Skiing The Sierra Nevada ski resort, 1 hour 40 minutes from the hotel provides excellent skiing from November through April. Arrangements for ski hire and passes can be made through the hotel.

DININGS & BARS: Eating at La Posada del Torcal is a culinary experience to be remembered. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste some of Spain's finest dishes in our restaurant. With its unique location in the centre of Andalucia's agricultural region, fresh products such as olives, almonds and figs (grown on the hotel's own farm) and organic vegetables such as red peppers, artichokes and asparagus are readily available. Dishes such as goat's cheese soufflé with sweet red pepper sauce, chicken cooked with almonds and chorizo, and Tarta Malagueña feature on the daily menu.

At La Posada we have an elegant dining room with a magnificent stone fireplace, terracotta and wood tiled floor, styling furnishings and 300-year-old beams. This is a warm and intimate place to spend a winter's night.

For our glorious spring, summer and autumn weather our terrace restaurant with its breathtaking views over El Torcal Natural Park is the perfect setting for a long "Spanish lunch" followed by of course the famous "siesta". Try Porra Antequerana, Antequera's own Gazpacho, or Ajo Blanco, a chilled almond and garlic soup - perfect for a hot summer's day.

Eat informally at our "Bodega" style poolside tapas bar, open from June to September. Here guests can sample finos from Jerez or other wines from our extensive, excellent wine list along with a mouth-watering selection of typical Spanish tapas such as jamón serrano, queso manchego, and boquerones.
