| The public recreation park "Humboldthain" opposite the hotel with 22 hectare was led out in 1872 by Gustav Meyer, the first director of gardening in Berlin. He mainly grow foreign species of trees and plants.
In world war II the park "Humboldthain" became a bunker with a floor space of 80 square metres. It was useful as a central office for the headquarter and as a military hospital. Today the towers for the anti-aircraft guns are lookout towers.
